Origin Bull-folk herd-breaker of the Qorun steppe
Bukhai ran with the free herds on the red grass of Qorun until the Herdlord came from the clouds with golden irons to brand the bull-folk as heaven's cattle. Bukhai broke the first iron across his knee and the second across the Herdlord's steward; by nightfall every herd ran with him. Tolai's horses ran in that stampede, her spear beside his horns, and Zefai's storm hid it from the clouds until the Herdlord lost the herds in the rain. Bukhai owes her every head. He fights like a stampede: horns first into the thickest knot, swinging the broken branding iron, tossing captains skyward. The roll marks Herds for him; the Herdlord keeps a brand hot for his arrival.
No god puts a brand upon my hide. I broke their irons, and I will break their throne.

He learned to fling heaven's stewards when the branding bailiffs cornered him in the stockade. Bukhai lowers his massive bull head and charges into melee, driving his ivory-pale horns under the target's waist. With a vicious snap of his shaggy neck, he hooks the enemy on his chipped horn and tosses them skyward, leaving them battered upon landing.

He bounded across the deep gulches of the red steppe while leading the herd away from heaven's fires. Bukhai digs his cloven hooves into the dirt and launches his massive body into the air with a bellow. The chipped tip of his left horn remembers every brand that tried to touch his people's hide. In the heat of close combat, Bukhai weaves savage horn thrusts between the swings of his broken branding iron. Every third attack drives the chipped ivory horn straight into enemy armor, ripping flesh and dealing punishing physical trauma.

He learned to shake the ground to turn stampeding calves away from hidden ravines. Bukhai raises one massive leg and brings his iron-hard hoof crashing down onto the soil. A spiderweb of deep fractures tears through the earth around him, knocking enemies off balance and showering them with flying shale that slows their movement.

He earned his stubborn endurance by surviving three days of heaven's branding whips without bowing. Bukhai's dense brown-black hide and shaggy neck mane turn aside cuts that would fell an ordinary soldier. The relentless fury burning behind his dark eyes hardens his resolve, granting him tough natural armor and hastening his clubbing strikes.

This unstoppable rush broke heaven's corral when the bull-folk ran beside Tolai's horses and Zefai's squalls. Snorting hot steam through his brass nose ring, Bukhai raises his broken branding iron and leaps high into the sky. He crashes down onto the densest enemy formation with catastrophic force, throwing entire ranks airborne and crushing their vanguard beneath his hooves.

Appearance
Bukhai is a huge bull-folk man, a head and a half taller than any soldier, with a massive humped neck, a bull's broad head and black muzzle, short brown-black hide, fierce wide-set dark eyes, a brass ring through his nose, and long forward-curving horns, ivory pale with black tips, the left one chipped. A shaggy black mane runs from his crown down his spine. He wears the gear of the Qorun free herds: a sleeveless red felt vest stitched with white herd-knot patterns, an iron-studded belt and wide leather trousers. His weapon is the Herdlord's broken branding iron: a long rod of heaven's gold-plated iron snapped across his knee, one end still bearing the branding head, a golden sun-in-a-ring sigil scorched black on its face, the other end a jagged broken spike. He swings it one-handed like a club. Palette: hide brown-black, red felt, heaven gold. Silhouette hook: a giant bull-headed figure charging with great curved horns lowered.
