Origin Keeper of the lent sword of Lanthuy
Hathu kept the Rain Verdict, the blade heaven surrendered when the Toad King won his suit, in the lotus lake under the Spiral Citadel of Coluan. When her father Dunthu dragged his bell into the river, she waited three days until it gave him back in bronze. Seoran dueled her, lost to one draw and stayed as her husband; when the Vermilion Censors came for him, she carried the Verdict out. At a ford she told Cassian a sword without a scabbard is a verdict without a seal, and tells Ubaku she means to collect, not sue. She fights from the scabbard: every draw a judgment. Her office is Petitions; its Deaf Magistrate has heard none in nine centuries.
Heaven lost its case. I am only here to collect.

Keeping the Rain Verdict in the lotus lake beneath the Spiral Citadel of Coluan taught Hathu how to part deep water in a single motion. She leans forward and dashes cleanly through the enemy line, drawing her pale grey-blue steel from its black lacquered scabbard. Glowing silver rain-script shears across the air in a lake-blue wake, cutting every foe in her path before her lotus-pink tunic even settles.

When Seoran sought her out to test heaven's surrendered blade, Hathu ended their duel with a single uncontested draw. Stepping firmly in her wide white trousers, she snaps the Rain Verdict from its black lacquered scabbard with a crisp metallic ring. The round bronze guard shaped like a lotus pad catches the daylight as the pale grey-blue steel cracks across the target, silver rain-script flashing to leave the stricken enemy reeling and completely stunned.

Waiting three days by the river until her father's bell returned in bronze taught Hathu an unshakeable, patient stillness. She stands poised with her fingers resting lightly on the grey ray-skin grip at her hip, slipping aside from incoming blows with fluid grace. Whenever a weapon grazes her lake-blue sash, her pale grey-blue blade pops an inch from its black lacquered scabbard, releasing a silver burst of rain-script that cuts the attacker with stinging cutting force.

Serving the silent Hall of Petitions under Coluan gave Hathu mastery over the weeping mists that shroud the citadel. She sweeps the Rain Verdict overhead in a wide circle, the single-edged grey-blue steel releasing a shimmering dome of lake-blue mist across the earth. Spectral raindrops inscribed with shining silver characters fall continuously over the ground, chilling advancing enemies to slow their march while scouring their flesh with persistent cuts.

She told Cassian at the river ford that an unsheathed blade is merely a verdict without an official seal. By keeping the Rain Verdict resting inside its black lacquered scabbard until the decisive heartbeat, Hathu sharpens her intent to absolute precision. Her dark eyes measure every flaw in an opponent's guard, causing the silver rain-script along her pale grey-blue steel to burn brighter, ensuring that every strike lands with lethal, armor-splitting force.

When the Toad King won his suit against the high courts, Hathu inherited the lawful right to enforce heaven's loss. She drops into a low stance, her jade-green rain cape billowing as she draws the Rain Verdict with thunderous speed. A straight, colossal line of pale grey-blue steel and blinding silver rain-script shears across the battlefield toward the most fragile foe, cleaving straight through the enemy ranks in an erupting spray of lake-blue light.

Appearance
Hathu is a poised, lean woman in her early thirties with smooth brown skin, a calm oval face, level dark eyes and long black hair gathered into a high knot pierced with a single bronze pin. She wears the dress of a Lanthuy sword keeper: a long side-split tunic of lotus-pink silk over wide white trousers, a lake-blue sash and a jade-green rain cape. Her weapon is the Rain Verdict, the blade heaven surrendered: a long, slightly curved, single-edged sword of pale grey-blue steel engraved along its whole length with flowing rain-script that shines silver when drawn, with a round bronze guard shaped like a lotus pad and a grip wrapped in grey ray-skin. It rests in a black lacquered scabbard inlaid with mother-of-pearl lotus flowers and rain lines, worn at her left hip, her hand always near the hilt. Palette: lotus pink, lake blue, lacquer black. Silhouette hook: a still swordswoman with one hand on a long black scabbard.
