Monster
Bloated spiders that skitter through the grave hedges of the Hollow March and string pale webs between the mossy cairns. They serve the Barrow Census by catching rebels who leave the marked paths. A single volley of sticky silk pins prey to the sod, where it waits, helpless, for the Tithe Bailiffs to arrive and count it.

Driven by an innate compulsion to serve the Barrow Census, the bloated webskitter strings traps between cairns to seize any climber straying from the marked road. Rearing back on its bristled grey legs, the spider contracts its pale, bulbous abdomen and expels a thick wad of viscous white silk across the battlefield. The sticky net expands in midair and pins the target firmly to the sod, locking their limbs in tangled threads and slowing their panicked escape.

Appearance
The webskitter is a bloated arachnid beast the size of an elk that infests the grave hedges of the Hollow March for the Barrow Census. It possesses a bulbous, distended abdomen, eight jointed spindly legs covered in stiff grey bristles, and a cluster of gleaming black eyes perched above clicking mandibles. Its tough chitin shell is mottled ash-black and lichen-grey, draped in sticky cobwebs and morning mist. Beneath its abdomen sits an overgrown spinneret that expels dense nets of viscous white silk to pin fleeing climbers to the sod, while sharp pedipalps deliver paralyzing venom. A faint milky luminescence coats the freshly spun silk snares. Palette: ash black, lichen grey, silk white. Silhouette hook: a swollen, high-domed spider perched atop long, needle-thin jointed legs.
