Origin Astrologer of the Qezhar observatories
Aurenth charted the sky from the domed observatories above Qezhar until he noticed stars going out that never fell. For years he followed the gaps down under the throne into the silent architect the court calls the Starless Demiurge, which has eaten every star taken for a seat. The censors burned his charts and blinded his students. Sefa, away in the desert, was spared to keep his lessons; he kept the count in his head. No star moved for Ithren's birth; years later he met the man once and never wrote him down. He pulls foes into crushing wells and drops stars on them, each a star he means to put back. His destined office is the Stars.
Every star they stole will fall back upon their heads.

Aurenth discovered how to channel starlight while recording the coordinates of stolen constellations beneath his observatory dome. Squinting through the clear star-glass disc of the Far Heaven lens, he aligns the three movable brass astrolabe arcs with an outstretched hand. A concentrated beam of piercing astral light fires down the corridor, burning straight through enemy ranks with celestial heat.

Decades spent tracking the heavens across infinite distances trained Aurenth to perceive subtle distortions in astral currents long before others notice them. Peering steadily through the star-glass disc on his walnut staff, his bright black eyes map the trajectories of distant foes. This profound celestial comprehension extends the range of his incantations and amplifies the destructive resonance of his astral magic.

He charted these crushing wells by observing the dark voids left behind where the Starless Demiurge devoured ancient stars. Planted on his brass-shod walnut staff, Aurenth twists the brass rings of his lens until starlight concentrates within the glass. A dark crushing well opens beneath the densest enemy cluster, collapsing inward to crush foes with immense pressure and leaving them stunned.

He mastered this astral drift to elude imperial censors when they stormed his observatory and burned his star catalogues. Stepping lightly in his soft red slippers, Aurenth peers through the Far Heaven lens and slips between the stars. He drifts yards away amid a soft chime of glass, leaving behind only a faint shimmer of turquoise starlight.

He retained the precise celestial coordinates of stolen stars in his memory after censors blinded his fellow scholars. Lifting the tall brass-shod staff with both hands, Aurenth aims the heavy brass ring of his lens at the target. A blazing mote of concentrated stellar fire falls from the heavens like a miniature comet, detonating on impact in a radiant explosion of golden heat.

He vowed this cataclysm the night imperial inquisitors blinded his students, swearing every stolen star would crash upon the heads of tyrants. Aurenth plants his walnut staff firmly into the ground and spins all three astrolabe arcs around the wide star-glass disc. A furious tempest of fallen meteors rains down across the battlefield for several seconds, blasting foes with relentless celestial strikes.

Appearance
Aurenth is a thin, stooped old man in his sixties with dark olive skin, a long lined face, a white beard trimmed to a point, bright black eyes with a habitual squint and long white hair under a high-wound turquoise turban. He wears the robes of a Qezhar observatory astrologer: a long night-blue robe embroidered with silver constellations, a few of its stars unpicked where they went out, a band of turquoise tile pattern at the hem and soft red slippers. His focus is the Far Heaven lens: a disc of clear star-glass as wide as his chest, set in a heavy ring of engraved brass with three movable astrolabe arcs around it, mounted on top of a tall brass-shod walnut staff; points of starlight drift inside the glass. He looks through it before every cast. Palette: night blue, turquoise, brass. Silhouette hook: a stooped old man under a large round lens on a staff.
