Sensing nearby prey with blind, twitching burls, it whips a thick arm of knotted briars across the clearing. The barbed wood tears open jagged gashes across flesh and leather, leaving embedded black thorns that weep dark venom and bleed continuously into the moss.

Appearance
The bramble stalker is an animate plant construct the size of a tall human, sprouted from funeral pyres in the barrow forest. Its tangled body is formed of intertwined briar branches and blackened roots, lacking eyes or a mouth and relying on blind, twitching wooden burls to track the warmth of the living. Its outer hide is a dense weave of petrified blackthorn bark and barbed vines encrusted with dried grey moss and yellowish bracket fungus. Its arms are elongated, whip-like boughs of flexible briar covered in hooked black thorns that lash outward to tear flesh and pump dark venom into wounds. Faint wisps of bitter funeral pyre smoke leak from fissures in its wooden joints. Palette: briar black, funeral charcoal, fungus yellow. Silhouette hook: a shambling humanoid tangle of thorny boughs with long, whip-like root arms.
