Origin Made-folk grenadier of the Serravel guilds

Drevik was built in a Serravel workshop to Hadrunn's design, older than the guild, stamped with a number for a name and sold for heavy labour. The Smith drew the made-folk to serve the forge and set an obedience rune behind every chest plate. Drevik prised his out. Tamsin found him with the empty socket and, instead of reporting him, gave him powder from her store and taught him how much to pack. He fights with frost mines underfoot, shells lobbed over the line, a kick of powder to hop clear. Vrell, another thing heaven made by accident, became his sworn friend on the climb. His destined office is the Forge, held by his maker, the Ashen Colossus.

Drevik learned to vent internal pressure after Tamsin taught him how much black powder to pack behind his open chest plate. Grasping his two-handed iron hand mortar at the hip, he pulls an auxiliary lever that vents a burst of explosive powder from the chest socket. The deafening concussion kicks his heavy geared frame backward in an airborne hop, landing securely paces away from encroaching enemies.

He harvested freezing alchemical reagents from the forgotten frost vaults beneath the Serravel foundry. Reaching down to his belt, Drevik unlatches a round frost mine frosted white with rime and hurls it into the densest enemy formation. The mine shatters on impact, releasing a blinding shockwave of glacial mist that instantly encases trapped foes in solid ice.

During his years breaking slag in the guild casting yards, Drevik modified his ammunition to shred surrounding obstacles with jagged shrapnel. As he fires his hand mortar from the hip, the iron shells shatter on impact into a fan of razor-sharp iron splinters. This jagged metal spray tears outward across the ground, cutting down nearby enemies surrounding his primary target.

After prising the obedience rune from his chest and fleeing the Smith's overseers, Drevik salvaged heavy scrap plates to reinforce his frame. Thick slabs of soot-blackened iron and bolted brass plating cover his vulnerable geared joints and heavy torso. This rugged layer of riveted metal absorbs punishing heavy blows, shielding his clockwork mechanisms from fatal structural damage.

He improvised this close-range defense to fend off scrapyard scavengers who tried to dismantle him while his gears cooled. Drevik wrenches the firing crank on his hand mortar, triggering the fan of six thin rivet tubes beneath the shell tube. A hail of glowing iron rivets sprays outward in a wide cone, tearing through enemy ranks and slowing their advance with painful puncture wounds.

He forged this devastating artillery shell using powder gifted by Tamsin to shatter the iron chains binding his fellow made-folk. Bracing his square iron boots into the dirt, Drevik loads an immense shell into the wide shell tube of his hand mortar and pulls the main trip-wire. The massive projectile arcs high and crashes down with a deafening blast, hurling foes violently outward and leaving them stunned.

Appearance

Drevik is a made-folk soldier of iron and brass built to Hadrunn's ancient design, taller and far heavier than a person, square-built, with thick arms, short legs and open geared joints. His face is a riveted iron mask with a grille mouth and two round lenses glowing soft amber under a dented brass helm, and a workshop number is punched into his brow in place of a name. His chest plate of soot-blackened iron hinges open over an empty socket where the obedience rune was prised out, powder packed behind it. Over his frame he wears a patched leather apron, riveted scrap plates and a belt of round frost mines frosted white. His weapon is a two-handed iron hand mortar as long as his arm: a short wide shell tube over a fan of six thin rivet tubes fed by a revolving brass hopper, carried at his hip. Palette: soot iron, brass, frost white. Silhouette hook: a squat clockwork soldier with an open chest plate and a stubby hand mortar.
