Iron-collared hounds bred to herd tribute debtors up the scorched slopes in long, coughing lines and to run down any who break from them. Hestrel calls them by name. Their fangs burn with a white heat that chars through armour and flesh, and a climber caught in their jaws does not outrun the chain gangs behind them.

White-hot fire constantly licks between its soot-caked iron fangs and heavy iron collar. Whenever its powerful jaws clamp shut upon a fleeing limb, the searing heat cauterizes and chars through armor plate, leaving smoking, persistent burns that consume muscle and bone.

The pyre hound is a predatory hunting beast the size of a mountain wolf, bred to herd tribute debtors across the scorched slopes of the Ashen Wastes. It has a lean, sinewy canine frame with corded leg muscles, a narrow snout with flared nostrils, and fierce eyes that burn like yellow forge sparks. Its coat consists of short, coarse bristles the colour of chimney soot over dark crimson hide, fitted with a heavy rusted-iron collar bearing curved chain hooks around its throat. Its weapons are powerful jaws lined with white-hot, iron-hard fangs that bite through armour plate to leave persistent, smoldering flame wounds. White-hot embers and thin ribbons of grey smoke drift steadily from its fangs and nostrils. Palette: soot black, forge crimson, flame gold. Silhouette hook: a lean, muscular hound in an iron-hooked collar with smoking, white-hot jaws.
